A great "app": City Mapper
Jeremy Jacob thanks Rightmove for uncovering and reporting on the app: City Mapper. For those of you that live or work in London and haven’t heard of Citymapper then we highly recommend you read on, as this will potentially revolutionise the way you travel in the capital!
Designed to be an all-in-one, constantly updated travel companion, Citymapper pulls in data about London buses, tubes, trams, cycle hire and trains and displays it all in a single place. That’s not the only feature which makes this app special though…
Citymapper also goes one step further by linking all of these different pieces of transport data together, allowing you to find the quickest, simplest or driest (we kid you not) route to your destination. At the same time, Citymapper also tells you estimated travel time, the amount of changes you’ll need to make, as well as the Oyster card cost for the journey.
Speaking as regular users of the app, we find the most useful function is the bus stop information section. This part of the app will find your current location, show you all of the bus stops around you, and then present a real time feed of when the next buses will be arriving.
There’s also a really useful Barclays Cycle Hire section, showing all of the nearby docking points and how many cycles or open spaces are available at each.
Citymapper is available for both Android and iPhones, as well as having its own website which presents all of the same functionality. Best of all, it’s completely free!
